As with every Fashion Week, the best street-style looks can be as fun to look at as the buzziest runway shows. Over the last few years, Copenhagen Fashion Week has earned a reputation for its especially strong street-style game, often setting off trends that trickle down and dominate for months to come.

Danish style has come to be defined by practical silhouettes reworked for a playful, almost tongue-in-cheek effect. Think boxy Peter Pan–collared button-downs, woolly kick-flare trousers, and hair accessories inspired by every variation of plant and fungi a forest nymph might gather. It doesn’t shout so much as it radiates a certain joyfulness coupled with functionality. After all, bicycles continue to be the preferred method of transportation for getting around the city center.

This season, I clocked extra-big bomber jackets, vibrant rainbow-hued knits, and shaggy fur trim. The abundance of contrasting textures and exaggerated proportions made me excited to dress up for the rest of what may be the most frigid winter in a long time.

CPHFW has closed for the season, but you can easily re-create some of the standout street-style looks right now.

It snowed the day before Copenhagen Fashion Week officially kicked off, and the temperatures remained numbingly cold throughout. Instead of throwing on beanies and wrapping their faces in scarves, some of the most stylish attendees leaned into elegance, wearing sculpted pillbox caps and weedy garden hats.

While heavy fur jackets seemed to dominate coat trends for a few seasons, it seems like that is giving way to shearling collars and shaggy-trimmed coats. They are less bulky but just as warm.
